Crickets are eaten daily around the world

For thousands of years people across the globe have eaten insects, a practice known as entomophagy. There are even accounts of people eating insects in the Bible.
It wasn’t until recently that Americans began eating crickets. Every day 2 billion people on Earth eat insects.
Those 2 billion people consume 1900 different species of insects regularly.
Obviously, insects are not widely popular in the Western world. That was not always the case.  In 20-50% of Native American tribes there is a history of eating insects. When immigrants to the United States began interacting with the Native Americans in the 18th and 19th Century it became socially unacceptable and eventually it became obsolete.
